Heavy legs are probably the most common sign of heart troubles; sadly leg heaviness is still ignored by most people. Cardiovascular disease is still the number one illness which results in the loss of life, the heart is a medical marvel which does so much for our health, yet many still ignored the signs of cardiovascular disease. Constant tired and heavy legs can be warning of a dangerous health condition.

The cardio affect in the lower limbs

Boxers and other professional athletes can usually signal the approaching end of their careers when the legs start to get heavier, less mobility in the lower limbs is a sign that the professional athlete has begun to slow down.

It is not hand speed but actually leg endurance which is the most common indicator of athletic decline.

People over the age of 35 usually have a build up of plaque in the arteries leading to heart; it is this plaque which is responsible for the feeling of heavy legs that so many people suffer from. The arteries are the highway to health, but over time the passage way becomes clogged, this condition affects the thin as well as the overweight.

It is possible to be what is concerned in good health, yet still have a dangerous build up of plaque in the arteries; this is why heart attack and stroke can be a sudden killer.

Leg arterial plaque buildup is called P.A.D (peripheral artery disease), it is often not diagnosed, and sadly many die from heart related problems. Checking your cholesterol levels are a good indicator of any artery blockage, it is important to have a normal LDL (this is known as the bad cholesterol).

 

It must be stated that there are people who did not have very high LDL and still were found to have clogged leg arteries.

It is crucial to listen to the lower limbs, heavy legs or tiredness in the lower limbs all may signs of a coming heart attack. Regardless of your age, the legs should not exhibit constant heaviness; it may be a sign of cardiovascular troubles.
